Our Mission

With equity at the heart of our work, Pike Market Child Care and Preschool's mission is to provide high quality early learning that is accessible to all families, regardless of income. PMCCP offers care and community to families with children from birth through 5 years old.

All families are welcomed, and while the adults work or study, they can trust their child will be celebrated, safe, and nurtured in homey, light filled classroom environments full of rich materials to explore. Group sizes are smaller than licensing requirements, with lower student to teacher ratios that support positive relationships, rich interactions, and deep explorations. Teachers collect and share documentation of children’s work to celebrate their unique perspective and learning. Healthy meals and snacks are served family style, and included with tuition.

When you choose to join PMCCP, by enrolling your child, volunteering, teaching or donating, you play a part in building a community of equity and belonging. Like the Market itself, everyone has a place here and something valuable to share.

At PMCCP we:

  • Welcome all families, valuing diversity and a sense of belonging in community

  • Nurture creativity, curiosity and compassion in children, families and teachers

  • Provide enriched, inspiring learning environments and materials

  • Serve a menu of home cooked, healthy whole foods

  • Recognize the contributions of teachers by paying a living wage, encouraging their development and valuing the long-term relationships they build by staying in their positions

  • Fundraise to provide tuition assistance to up to 65% of our enrolled families

What our families are saying

“PMCCP is the ideal place for working families who want their children to grow into thoughtful, curious, and nurturing people. Our daughter was shy when she first entered the classroom. When I pick her up, I now see her dancing and reading with her friends, eager to return the next day.”

“PMCCP is part of our home, our family, our community. The pandemic has been tough but this consistent education and socialization for our child (and us!) has been imperative to her development and our mental health.”

“PMCCP is truly a wonderful place where I feel like my child is safe, happy and well taken care of. As we reach the door, my son does a happy dance because he is so excited to spend the day there. This place is absolutely amazing!”

Covid-19 Policy

We continue to follow guidance provided by the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) and the King County Public Health Department to make decisions that support the health and safety of our students, families, and staff.
